Reggie Blount’s new 7”, “Space Bitch/Stimulant” is up for preorder from Hobo Camp Records, and both tracks feature vocals from your favorite dirty old man of mystery, Zackey Force Funk. The two have a long history of collaboration starting in Tuscon, AZ years ago, including tracks on Zackey’s solo albums Money Green Viper and Electron Don, and now this 7”. Reggie as a producer was a very early adopter to the current funk movement, with seminal EPs on Clone in 2010 and 2012.

XL Middleton & Eddy Funkster

auteur:

photo:
a propos:
As co-founders of the label MoFunk Records, and the production team behind one of modern funk’s signature anthems, “Press Play” (featuring Zackey Force Funk), XL Middleton + Eddy Funkster’s album is truly an opus long overdue. In sound, it draws heavily from LA’s musical well over the last several generations, bringing forth hard electro funk styles on “Show Some Respect,” bouncy lowrider funk on cuts like “Solicitation,” and giving a progressive nod to 90’s g-funk on the LBC’d out “California Fly,” which features Domino of “Getto Jam” fame. Furthermore, XL + EF channel the more modern feel of ambient, pad-heavy funk on songs like “On Our Way To Funkmosphere.” In spirit, it’s more of a P-Funkesque party, as the entire MoFunk roster plus extended family join in variously on all of the album’s 7 songs, contributing everything from vocals to guitar and talkbox. This is kind of party you’ll want to join in - an ongoing celebration known as modern funk.Latest effort from XL Middleton, whose “Tap Water” album was well received critically and commerciallyFirst joint effort from founders of MoFunk RecordsFeatures from several modern funk artists including Zackey Force Funk, Brian Ellis, Moniquea, and Diamond OrtizFeature from 90’s g-funk artist Domino, known for hit singles “Getto Jam” & “Sweet Potatoe Pie”

Electrify/Breeze

auteur:

photo:
a propos:
BACK IN STOCK !!!!Described as “an audiovisual production and performance duo,” Shiro Schwarz is truly a complete multimedia experience. The bright, 64-bit aesthetics of their visual style are a perfect compliment to their synth-heavy tunes, which blend elements of boogie funk, synth-pop, and new wave, while wrapping it all in an air of digital mystery, which lends deeply to the allure of their sound. MoFunk Records is proud to bring you Shiro’s first release in vinyl format, a 12” maxi single that includes “Electrify,” originally released in 2015 on their “Street Beat” album, and “Breeze” from 2013’s “Exoplanet Love.”

Love Is

auteur:

photo:
a propos:
Limited White Vinyl 7" Repress Repress on col vinyl from this release from 2014 ! Amazing boogie / funk tunes. Featuring the Egyptian Lover. Check it!!For his debut 45, Brian enlisted two seasoned underground guests to usher in his brand of boogie-funk. “Love Is” features the legendary Egyptian Lover, a master of the 808 and veteran party-rocker on vocoder detail, while on the flip-side, K-Maxx commands the microphone with his signature style on “Electric Body”. Brian Ellis alongside brothers Adam and Jordan Chini make up the modern funk group Reflection. The 3 multi-instrumentalists employ a slew of analog synthesizers, vocoders, vintage drum machines and live guitars to create their own brand of live funk. Standing firmly behind the motto "no computers", Reflection perform without the help of sequencing or quantization giving the audience a true live show.
